Betta Fish Help? Help asap

_{If any of you reading this have some good knowledge on Betta's then I really need your help.

Ok so a couple of weeks ago my Betta's back fin got quite a big tear in it. I thought it was from him flaring up to much. (Because I recently took down a towel that was covering the sides) So I covered the sides and hoped it would get better. Over the next couple of days his fins got worse and worse. I know it is not fin rot and that it is not from any of his plants.
Last night I did a water change and added aquarium salt too. And I know it takes a while for fins to heal using that, but his top fin got so much worse today.. Now it looks just like little strings because it has torn so bad.

So I really need help with a few things.
1. Is it safe to put in Bettafix in a tank with aquarium salt?
2. If I do use Bettafix, how often should I add more? And if I do a 25% water change everyday then how much more should I add?
3. What can be causing his fins to get this bad?}
